‘Kashmiris should be granted right to self-determination’

Islamabad, June 03 (KMS): The Kashmiri leaders of both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) have reiterated their demand that the people of Kashmir should be granted the right to self-determination as recognised by the UN Charter and relevant resolutions of the World Body.

Indian troops martyr 13 Kashmiris in May

Srinagar, June 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism, martyred 13 Kashmiris including a woman and a young boy during the last month of May.

According to the data issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, of those martyred one youth was killed in custody. During the month, 52 people were critically injured by Indian police and paramilitary personnel during peaceful demonstrations. 43 civilians, mostly youth, were arrested, during the period.

Indian trooper commits suicide in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, May 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian trooper has committed suicide in Samba district.

The trooper identified as Sher Singh of 23 Grenadiers ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at his camp in Bari Brahamana in the district.

This raised the number of such deaths amongst Indian troops and police personnel to 244 since January 2007.

Report reveals horrific aspects of Kishanganga project

Srinagar, May 22 (KMS): The Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), is executing a 300 MW Kishanganga power project in Bandipora district of occupied Kashmir, despite a warning by the Centre for Inter-disciplinary Studies of Mountain & Hill Environment (CISMHE), New Delhi, of terrible anti-environmental dangers of the project.

A report, prepared by CISMHE on Kishanganga, clearly pointed to the issues like environmental degradation and the impact on water quality of Bandipora.

“The impact on water quality is expected to rise from disposal of excavated material into the river channel. The muck will essentially come from the road-building activity, tunneling and other excavation works. “The waste going into the river channel will enhance the turbidity of water continuously for long time periods,” the report said.

Gilani forum asks Omar to quit over infant deaths at hospital

Srinagar, May 22 (KMS): The forum led by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, terming the death of over 379 infants at G B Pant Hospital, Srinagar, since January this year as genocide of the Kashmiris, called upon the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to step down on moral grounds.

A spokesman for the forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Omar should accept responsibility of deaths of hundreds of children at the hospital. These deaths have been caused by shortage of important life-saving medicines, equipment and other health services, for which the administration is directly responsible.”
