Waza put under house arrest in Islamabad town

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): APHC leader Mukthar Ahmad Waza was put under house arrest, today, in Islamabad town by police.

The police put the APHC leader under house arrest to prevent him from visiting martyrs graveyard in Srinagar where he was scheduled to address a gathering on the occasion of 14th martyrdom anniversary of S. Hameed Wani.

Addressing the gathering over telephone, Waza paid glowing tributes to Hameed Wani, saying that the blood of martyrs would not be allowed to go waste.

He said that India’s claim of zero tolerance against rights abuse proved to be a hoax in the backdrop of fake encounters and targeted killings of innocent Kashmiris.

He maintained that the implementation of the UN resolutions was the best solution to the long-pending dispute.

Meanwhile a delegation of Peoples League visited martyrs graveyard in Srinagar and paid homage to S. Hameed Wani and other martyrs. Delegation also visited family members of the martyr to express solidarity with them.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Shaikh Mohammad Yaqoob, paying rich tributes to S. Hameed Wani, said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at the international level. He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, despite all odds. He urged India to show seriousness in resolving the Kashmir dispute issue in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
