Shutdown marks anniversary of Shopian incident

Srinagar, May 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Shopian town, today, to mourn the killing of two Kashmiri women Neelofar and Aasiya who were abducted, molested and subsequently killed in the town, three years ago.

All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the road.

Meanwhile, Shopian Majlis-e-Mushawrat organised a seminar to pay tributes to the martyred women. Addressing on the occasion over telephone from Srinagar, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani demanded withdrawal of Indian troops from the occupied territory. He said that India wanted to suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle through use of force, but the people of Kashmir were determined to continue the ongoing movement till its logical conclusion.

Liberation leaders, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Muhammad Yousuf Mir also addressed the seminar.
