Int’l bodies appealed to take notice of HR violations in IHK

London, February 03 (KMS): The Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl has appealed to the international human rights organisations to take cognisance of stepped up human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl in a statement issued in London, condemned the barbarian killing of a 7th class student, Wamiq Farooq Wani by an Indian police officer in Srinagar.

He said that the acts of Indian state terrorism perpetrated against innocent Kashmiris were aimed at silencing their just voice for right to self-determination.

Shawl urged the United Nations and its member states to impress upon India to stop rights’ violations in the occupied territory. “The use of brute force by the troops cannot deter Kashmiris’ resolve to continue struggle against Indian bondage,” he maintained.

Recalling Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh’s pledge to show zero tolerance against human rights violation, he said that the troops who were committing the crimes needed to be brought to justice immediately.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-i-Azadi in a statement issued in Srinagar also termed the student’s killing as barbaric and demanded complete withdrawal of Indian troops from the occupied territory. »
