New Delhi: Illegally detained Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Masarrat Alam Butt has paid tribute to Shaheed Burhan Wani and his associates on their martyrdom anniversary.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Burhan Wani, along with his two associates, was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad on July 8, 2016.

Masarrat Alam Butt, in his message from Tihar Jail on the eve of eighth martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Wani, praised Burhan Wani as a role model for the people of Kashmir in their struggle against Indian oppression. He urged the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control to organize protest rallies, seminars and other events to honour Burhan Wani and his companions, who lit the candle of Kashmir’s freedom movement with their blood. He described Burhan Wani as a role model for the people of Kashmir in their struggle against Indian subjugation.

The APHC Chairman highlighted that Burhan Wani and his comrades wrote a new chapter in Kashmir’s movement and injected renewed vigor into the struggle. He emphasized the unwavering determination of Kashmiris to fulfill the martyrs’ mission and urged greater unity among them to effectively advance the freedom struggle against Indian oppression.

Masarrat Alam Butt appealed to the Kashmiri people to commemorate Burhan Wani by participating in events on his martyrdom day, tomorrow, emphasizing the need to draw international attention to Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, another detained APHC leader, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, also paid tribute to martyr Burhan Wani and his companions on their martyrdom anniversary. He emphasized that Burhan Wani revolutionized the Kashmir freedom movement, stating that the movement would be incomplete without acknowledging his contributions. Irfani underscored that the profound sacrifices of the martyrs would never be forgotten or allowed to go waste.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s League, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, while paying tribute to Burhan Wani and other martyrs, reaffirmed his commitment to continue their mission. He stated that Indian oppression and tyranny have failed to suppress the Kashmiri struggle for freedom based on their rights. He emphasized that resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions is essential for peace and prosperity in South Asia.

Hurriyat leaders including Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Abdul Samad Anqlabi, Imtiaz Ahmad Rishi, Muhammad Umar, Advocate Muzamil, Shabbir Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi War, Muhammad Aqib Wani, and others in their statements in Srinagar paid homage to Burhan Wani Shaheed, reaffirming their commitment to uphold his mission at any cost. They emphasized that Burhan Wani had infused a new vigor into the freedom struggle and would forever remain a symbol of resistance. They called upon the international community to play its role in resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.

On the other hand, the Peoples Political Front, a constituent of the APHC, convened a meeting at the party office in Srinagar to pay homage to Burhan Wani. The participants of the meeting praising Burhan Wani said his sacrifice would never be forgotten, attributing his entry into the resistance movement to the injustices inflicted by Indian troops. They affirmed Kashmiris’ unwavering determination to take the mission of Burhan Wani and other martyrs to its logical conclusion.
