‘Kashmir internationally recognized dispute, needs solution under UN resolutions’

Muzaffarabad: Director of Kashmir Policy Research Institute Dr Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan has said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and needs solutions under the United Nations resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan, who is on a visit to Azad Kashmir, while addressing the participants of the Senior Management Course, said the United Nations has recognized the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

He said the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by India is a violation not only of the United Nations resolutions but also of the Indian Constitution itself. He said the ongoing freedom struggle in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is proof that Kashmiris do not accept Indian occupation and are continuing their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation.

Raja Sajjad said Kashmiris have not accepted India’s oppressive occupation for more than seven decades, adding India is brutally using military force to suppress the freedom struggle of Kashmiris and is involved in serious human rights violations.

He said Pakistan is the only advocate of Kashmiris in the world and continues to fully support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. Since 1947, Azad Kashmir has made immense progress compared to occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India is spreading negative propaganda regarding Azad Kashmir and is using all its resources for this purpose, he lamented.

Dr Sajjad gave a detailed briefing to the delegation on the legal, political, geographical and constitutional aspects of the Kashmir dispute, Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, political and administrative structure of Azad Kashmir, construction and development in Azad Kashmir and other issues.

He said even after the illegal move by India on August 5, 2019, the world recognizes Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory. The Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions, he maintained.
