Islamabad: The resolution passed on 23 March 1940 remains the main driving force behind Kashmir freedom struggle, which is in fact a continuation of the Pakistan Movement.

According to a report by Kashmir Media Service released in connection with Pakistan Day, today, the Kashmir dispute is the unfinished chapter from the partition of the sub-continent, as Pakistanis and Kashmiris share strong and deep bonds of religion, history and culture.

The report recalled that the Kashmiri delegation that had attended 23rd March 1940 public event at Lahore, where Pakistan Resolution was passed, had declared that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be a part of future Muslim state in the region.

The report said Kashmiris regard Pakistan and its armed forces as their protectors. It said founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had rightly termed Kashmir the “Jugular Vein” of Pakistan.

The report affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kashmiris’ freedom struggle, citing Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir’s statement that Pakistan has fought three wars for Kashmir and is ready to fight ten more if necessary.

The report said that the struggling Kashmiris draw inspiration from historic March 23, 1940 resolution, stressing that a strong, stable Pakistan is crucial for resolving the Kashmir dispute.

The report underscored that Pakistan and Kashmir are inseparable, with pro-Pakistan sentiments and slogans like “Kashmir Baney Ga Pakistan” echoing across IIOJK. “Right from 1947, the people of the occupied territory have been celebrating Pakistan’s national days under the shadows of Indian guns,” it said.

The report concluded by highlighting the actions of the Narendra Modi-led Indian government post-August 5, 2019, as a stark reminder that Muslims in the subcontinent needed a separate homeland, and that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s future lies with Pakistan.
