Intensified cordon and search operation continues in Kathua

Srinagar: Indian forces continued their intensified cordon and search operation for the third day on Tuesday in Kathua district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation began on the night of March 23 in Hiranagar area of the district. The operation followed a firing incident reported in the area during the ongoing search by Indian forces.

“A firing incident was reported in the Hiranagar area of Kathua after a search operation was underway,” a police officer said. The Indian army commandos, drones and sniffer dogs are being used during the operation, the police said.

Indian army claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from the operation site. “The entire forested area, has been surrounded,” officials said.

Analysts say that over the last couple of years, the Pir Panjal region dividing Kashmir Valley from Jammu has witnessed massvie operations in the territory.
