Massive rally in IIOJK’s Magam in support of Palestine
Zionist agenda a brutal manifestation of colonialism & apartheid: Agha Hassan
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of Muslims observing the fast took to the streets in the Magam area of Budgam on Jummtul Wida, the last Friday of Ramazan, which also marks as Al-Quds Day, today, to express unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration, which saw significant participation from women, was characterized by fervent calls for the liberation of Masjid-al-Aqsa and an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories. Protesters marched through the bustling Magam bazar, raising pro-Palestine slogans and condemning the Zionist occupation. Public addresses during the rally strongly criticized the international community’s silence in the face of escalating repression in Gaza, where over 50, 000 people, including thousands of children and women, have been massacred by Israeli forces since October 2023.
The annual observance of Al-Quds Day, originally initiated to express support for Palestinian resistance, has gained traction in various parts of the world, including occupied Jammu and Kashmir. For many participants of the rally, the event carried both religious and political significance, intertwining their faith with advocacy for global justice and the liberation of Palestine.
Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and President of Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan al-Moosvi al-Safavi, while addressing a gathering in Budgam, urged Muslims worldwide to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. He condemned the Zionist agenda as a brutal extension of colonialism and apartheid, stating, “Never before in human history have we witnessed such a ruthless scheme of occupation. Israel has relentlessly pursued demographic changes in Palestine through ethnic cleansing, terrorism, and genocide.”
Denouncing Israel’s actions in Palestine, he asserted that they constitute a blatant violation of international law and defy multiple UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.
