BJP regime disallows Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Jamia Masjid, Eidgah in Srinagar
Srinagar: Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with all religious freedom, the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir were stopped and prohibited by the Indian authorities from offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar city.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid Srinagar has announced that the Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayers will be offered at the historic Eidgah in Srinagar at 10:00am and also asked the authorities not to create any obstacles, as witnessed on Laylatul Qadr and Jumat-ul-Wida, to the smooth conduct of Eid prayers.
The tradition of celebrating Eid alongside Pakistan underscores the deep cultural and religious ties between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. However, the joy of Eid is marred by stringent restrictions imposed by India’s Hindutva regime led by Hindutva Indian BJP govt in the occupied territory. The BJP regime headed by the non-Kashmiri communal LG Manoj Minhas prohibited the Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar.
Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is also head cleric at the Jamia Masjid, was placed under house arrest to prevent him from leading the Eid prayers.
The continued closure of Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar has sparked condemnation from All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Anjuman Auqaf and other religious and political organizations. They termed the action as infringement on religious freedoms and rights of the Muslim community.
Indian forces are continuing to enforce strict violent military and police sieges, along with cordon and search operations, across the territory on this Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
The Hindutva BJP regime has imposed stringent restrictions by deploying Indian troops and police personnel throughout the territory and Srinagar-Jammu Highways to suppress demands for the political right to self-determination.
The APHC spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar also condemned Indian BJP authorities for closing the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah of Srinagar for Eid ul Fitr prayers besides house detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
He said this step of India is extremely painful and a blatant interference in the religious matters of Muslims. He said that the Kashmiri and Palestinian people are creating an unparalleled history of sacrifices, and these great sacrifices will never be in vain.
Meanwhile, APHC Chairman Masarat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Mushtaq ul Islam, Bilal Siddiqi, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed, Dr. Hameed Fayaz, human rights defenders and journalists and thousands others have been languishing in different jails of India and IIOJK jails.
