Indian SC rejects Yasin Malik’s plea for physical appearance in Jammu TADA court
JKLF slams verdict as a grave injustice
Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to reject the plea of its illegally detained chairman, Yasin Malik, for physical appearance in the Jammu TADA Court, terming it a blatant violation of justice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, JKLF’s central spokesperson, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, in a press release from the party’s Central Information Office, said that the ruling was dictated by the Modi regime to further suppress Kashmiris’ voices.
He added that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed Yasin Malik’s request on flimsy grounds, falsely branding him a “dangerous terrorist” and claiming that he could not be taken out of New Delhi’s Tihar Jail. However, Yasin Malik, who was presented before the Supreme Court via video link, rejected these baseless allegations. He asserted that he is not a terrorist but a peaceful political leader, reminding the court that he has held multiple rounds of negotiations with Indian Prime Ministers in pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
Despite these facts, Dar said, the Indian Supreme Court disregarded his plea and ruled that he must continue appearing via video link instead of being physically present at his trial in the Jammu TADA Court.
The JKLF spokesperson further revealed that Yasin Malik is scheduled to be presented in the Jammu TADA Court on April 19 in connection with old, fabricated cases.
