Yasin Malik says he is a political leader, not terrorist

New Delhi: Illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that he is a political leader and not a terrorist.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Yasin Malik today appeared before two Indian Supreme Court benches comprising Justices Abhay S. Oka and Ajal Bhuyan from the infamous Tihar Jail in New Delhi through video conferencing.

He referred to the submission of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Central Bureau of Investigation, who stated that there are photographs of Yasin Malik with Hafiz Saeed which were published in all national and regional dailies and television channels also showed those photographs.

Yasin Malik said that through this submission, a public narrative was created against him. He said in 1994, he declared a unilateral ceasefire, after that he was not only granted bail in 32 cases but no case was taken further and then suddenly old cases against him were reopened.

He said that seven Indian prime ministers had spoken to him in the past. he said that prime ministers PV Narasimha Rao, HD Deve Gowda, Inder Kumar Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also did not take any action against him during the five years of his first tenure and passed a ceasefire.

He said the CBI has objections that he is a security threat, however, he wants to say that he is not a terrorist.
