Mass protests erupt in Doda over blasphemous content; Internet, mobile services blocked
Jammu: Massive protests erupted in Doda district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir after blasphemous content was uploaded on social media by a Hindutva activist.
According to Kashmir Media Service, large-scale demonstrations took place in the district’s Bhaderwah area and Doda city. Protestors stated that a local official of a Hindutva organization had uploaded offensive content that disrespected the Holy Quran.
Shouting slogans in support of Islam and the Quran, the protesters demanded severe punishment for the individual responsible. “The community demands strict action against the culprit,” the protestors said.
In response to the protests, the occupying Indian administration imposed a blackout on mobile and internet services in the areas. Meanwhile, Muslims in Bhaderwah also observed a shutter-down strike in protest against the sacrilegious act.
According to the latest reports, the situation in the areas remained tense, with heavy deployment of Indian forces at various locations.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly condemned the shameful blasphemy incident against the Holy Quran in Doda, IIOJK.
In a statement, APHC-AJK Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmed Butt remarked, “It is as clear as day that such despicable incidents are part of the ongoing anti-Muslim policies of India’s fascist government, under Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).”
He further stated that this incident not only attacks the religious sentiments of Muslims but also represents a deliberate attempt to disrupt religious harmony and undermine interfaith tolerance across the disputed territory.
