Pakistan elected member of UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs
New York: Pakistan has been elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term during the UN Economic and Social Council’s elections in New York.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan’s UN mission in a statement stated that Pakistan is grateful for the support of the UN Economic and Social Council. Being elected as a member of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs reflects the confidence placed in Pakistan. Pakistan has been selected for the term from 2026 to 2029.
The statement further stated that being selected as a member of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs demonstrates trust and confidence in Pakistan, and the country is ready to play an effective role in global anti-drug efforts. The statement highlighted that Pakistan has been at the forefront of international anti-narcotics efforts and has played a significant role in combating drug trafficking, production, and use.
Pakistan has consistently played an active and constructive role in discussions on global drug policy at the United Nations.
