Prominent pro-freedom leader Ghulam Mohammad Naiko dies in Srinagar
APHC offers condolences
Srinagar: Prominent pro-freedom leader Ghulam Mohammad Naiko passed away after a brief illness in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Mohammad Naiko was originally from the Seelu area of Sopore and had been residing in the Bemina area of Srinagar in recent years.
The late Naiko was associated with various pro-freedom organizations including, Al-Fatah, People’s League, and the Muslim Conference. A highly respected leader, he was known for his sharp intellect and visionary approach. Naiko made significant contributions to the ongoing resistance movement against India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite facing severe repression and personal hardships, he remained steadfast in his commitment to the cause, dedicating his life to the freedom struggle until his last breath.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed profound sorrow over Naiko’s passing, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. APHC-AJK leaders, including Mohammad Farooq Rehmani, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Altaf Hussain Wani, Ejaz Rehmani and Shameem Shawl, also mourned the loss, remembering Naiko’s tireless contributions to the freedom struggle. They prayed for the elevation of his soul and strength for his grieving family during this difficult time.
