991 Kashmiris martyred in IIOJK since August 2019

APHC terms IIOJK development mantra a hoax

Srinagar: Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred over 991 Kashmiris since August 5, 2019 in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, Indian forces’ personnel including Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Special Operation Group and police personnel martyred 991 Kashmiris including 20 women since the abrogation of the special status of IIOJK by the India’s Hindutva-inspired BJP government.

Senior APHC leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Altaf Ahmed were subjected to custodial death and the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, died while remaining under house detention for more than a decade.

Of the 991 victims picked up during cordon and search operations and house raids, most of them were killed in fake encounters and custody after being dubbed as mujahideen or over-ground workers. At least 2,486 people were critically injured when Indian troops used brute force on peaceful demonstrators in the territory. It said that the killings rendered 73 women widowed and 202 children orphaned.

The report pointed out that while the entire occupied Kashmir has been turned into an open-air prison under Indian military and police siege, thousands of Hurriyat leaders, political and human rights activists, religious heads, journalists, businessmen, youth and activists were arrested after or before 5 August 2019 under black laws, and still continue to remain in Tihar and other jails of India and IIOJK.

The Kashmiris were not allowed to offer Eid prayers in Jamia Masjid and Eidgah since August 2019.

The BJP regime suppressing and weakening economy of locals and adding mental torture by attaching properties including houses and lands of people including Hurriyet leaders and activists in the territory.

Prominent among them are: APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Meraajudin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahidul Islam, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Ameer Hamza, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Maulvi Bashir Irfani, Bilal Siddiqi, Dr Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Hayat Ahmad Butt, Abdul Ahad Parra, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, Zaffar Akbar Butt, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, , Advocate Muhammad Ashraf Butt, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Sadullah Parrey Ghulam Qadir Butt, Zahoor Ahmed Butt, Umar Adil Dar, Saleem Nanaji, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Adv Zahid Ali, Fayaz Hussain Jaferi, Adil Siraj Zargar, Dawood Zargar, and human rights defenders Khurrum Parvez and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo who have been languishing in jails in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and all over India. Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is being restricted from offering Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar said that Hindutva-inspired BJP government is publishing fake reports of so-called peace and development in the territory. He said India is trying to mislead the world community by boasting that a new era of so-called development has kicked off in Kashmir. BJP regime’s 5 August 2019 illegal move has put IIOJK into a reverse gear in all spheres of life, he said and asked that how peace and development can happen in the territory when it has become the world’s most militarized zone.

He pointed out that the Kashmiris do not demand development but their foremost demand is plebiscite under the UN supervision so that they can decide their fate by themselves.

APHC said the Kashmiri people are not against peace and development but breaking shackles of Indian slavery is their prime objective.
