IIOJK authorities failed to protect Muslim interests: Agha Hassan

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan al-Mosavi al-Safavi, has expressed his disappointment over the IIOJK government’s continuous failure to protect and advocate for Muslim interests, despite leading the majority Muslim territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Hassan, in a statement, said, “It is utterly unacceptable how those in power continue to underestimate the wisdom and awareness of the people of IIOJK. Their recent actions following the election reveal a disturbing trend—whether it concerns Article 370, the Reservation Policy, issues related to alcohol, or the Waqf Bill, they have consistently let the community down.”

He criticized the glaring absence of strong opposition to the sale of religious institutions, both in public discussions and within legislative debates. Agha Hassan stated that it is disheartening to see a regime that professes to uphold the faith abandon its responsibilities at critical moments.

Agha Hassan further remarked, “History will not forget that, while they chose to align with divisive issues like the alcohol and Waqf Amendment Bill, they failed to stand firmly for Shariyat.”
