With no Muslim MP, BJP showing false concern for minorities: Harsimrat Kaur
New Delhi: Harsimrat Kaur, a Member of Parliament from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has stated that the BJP, a party with no Muslim MPs, is showing fake concern for minorities and Muslims.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Harsimrat Kaur, while addressing the Lok Sabha, expressed her confusion, saying, “I am puzzled and trying to understand why a political party, which has not had a single Muslim MP in the last three parliaments—the 14th, 15th, and 16th Lok Sabhas—suddenly cares so much about minorities.” She pointed out that the same party, which claims sympathy for women, does not have a single Muslim woman MP either.
Kaur raised concerns over the BJP government’s intentions regarding the recent amendments in the Waqf Bill.
She continued, “What has changed today? Why is this party suddenly showing so much love for minorities? This party (BJP) has built its entire politics on Hindu-Muslim riots, and its political discourse revolves around Pakistan, Muslims, and Khalistan. How is it that now, suddenly, they have so much compassion for Muslim sisters and their rightful use of resources?”
Kaur further accused the BJP of showing false concern, saying, “Their lips may utter prayers, but their hearts are black, and the whole country knows that.”
Kaur also pointed out the absence of Muslim MPs supporting the bill in Parliament, emphasizing that no minority in the country supports it. She questioned, “If the BJP truly cares for minorities, why hasn’t it brought forth the bill to amend Article 25(B), a long-standing demand of the Sikh community? Why is this bill not being introduced? It’s because we are Sikhs, not Hindus. Why don’t they bring a bill to recognize our identity?” KMS-12U
