Amit Shah’s IIOJK visit tantamount to rubbing salt on Kashmiris’ wounds.
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter has said that the visit of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to occupied Jammu and Kashmir is tantamount to rubbing salt on the wounds of the Kashmiri people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Minister of the AJK Government Taqdis Gilani, Shamim Shawl and Sheikh Abdul Mateen addressing a press conference at National Press Club in Islamabad said the visit to the occupied Kashmir by the person, under whose leadership the occupying Indian forces are systematically massacred the Kashmiri people, reflects a cruel and exploitative mindset.
They said Amit Shah is the person who was playing the central role behind the unconstitutional, illegal and oppressive steps of August 5, 2019, under which the special constitutional status of occupied Kashmir was unilaterally abolished. These steps not only violated the UN resolutions but also violated international laws and the Indian Constitution itself, they lamented.
The Hurriyat leaders said under the patronage of Amit Shah, steps like changing domicile laws, settling non-state residents and forcible occupation of lands are being taken to eliminate the Muslim-majority identity in the occupied territory. All these are part of a conspiracy to turn the local population into a minority, they added.
The APHC-AJK leaders said India is taking heinous steps to subdue the Hurriyat leadership and seal their houses and properties to make them give up the slogan of right to self-determination.
They said Indian forces’ brutality, arrests of political leaders, restrictions on expression and all other tactics to suppress the voice of freedom cannot weaken the resolve and morale of the Kashmiris and they will continue its movement until it achieves its right to self-determination through peaceful political struggle.
They demanded that the international community, the United Nations, human rights organizations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) take notice of these inhuman and colonial measures of India and play a practical role in ensuring the legitimate and legal rights of the Kashmiri people as per the United Nations resolutions.
They reiterated their resolve to continue their struggle based on truth until they achieve freedom from India.
