IIOJK hit by severe winds, rain: Jammu civil secretariat wall falls, vehicles damaged
3 homes gutted in Bandipora fire
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, strong winds and heavy rainfall wreaked widespread havoc, toppling trees, disrupting electricity supply, and causing property damage across several districts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the intense windstorms and downpours caused significant destruction in parts of Jammu and Udhampur. In Jammu, a portion of the boundary wall of the Civil Secretariat collapsed due to high-velocity winds. The wall, along with barbed wire fencing, crashed down onto parked vehicles, causing considerable damage.
In Udhampur district, uprooted trees blocked roads and severely hampered traffic movement. Several areas experienced power outages due to storm-related disruptions.
Meanwhile, in the Kashmir Valley’s Bandipora district, a major fire broke out in the SK Payeen area, destroying at least three residential houses. The fire reportedly began in one home and rapidly spread to adjacent houses. A gas cylinder explosion inside one of the homes further fueled the flames. By the time fire service teams arrived, the blaze had engulfed all three structures. Officials said the fire was eventually brought under control following an intense firefighting effort.
