Indian BSF troops abduct, kill Bangladeshi youth
Dhaka, April 16 (KMS): In yet another incident of cross-border aggression, Indian Border Security Force personnel have killed a Bangladeshi youth in Lalmonirhat district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred at Madhya Singimari border under Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat district. The deceased has been identified as Hasibul Alam, 24, son of Zahidul Islam.
According to local people, Hasibul and several others were cutting grass on Bangladeshi land near the border when a patrol team from the Indian BSF stationed at Nagar Singimari camp at Shitalkuchi in India crossed into Bangladesh and forcibly took Hasibul across the border.
Reports said that the BSF troops shot Hasibul in his eyes while trying to put him into a vehicle. Though he was later taken to a hospital in Cooch Behar of West Bengal, he succumbed to his injuries, they said.
According to the rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra, at least 25 Bangladeshis were killed by the Indian BSF troops in 2024 while the number was 28 in 2023.
