APHC-AJK pays rich tributes to S. Hameed Wani on his death anniversary
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a prayer meeting to pay tribute to a great leader of the Kashmir freedom movement, Shaheed S. Hameed Wani, on his death anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shaheed S. Hameed Wani was martyred by the Indian forces in Srinagar on April 18, 1998, while in custody.
Addressing the prayer meeting, Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi paid tribute to the sacrifices of Shaheed S. Hameed Wani and his unparalleled services for the Kashmir freedom movement. He said that S. Hameed Wani was a true and sincere leader who dedicated his entire life for the rights and freedom of the Kashmiri people. His steadfastness, courage and selfless struggle are a beacon for the freedom movement, he added.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that Shaheed S. Hameed Wani was one of the early leaders of the movement and he gave a new lease of life to the movement with his intellectual insight and organizational skills. His martyrdom has further strengthened the spirit of the freedom movement and the Kashmiri people are determined to continue the mission of their great leader at all costs, he maintained.
On this occasion, an appeal was also made to the international community to take notice of the serious human rights violations going on in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and play its role for a just and peaceful solution to the long-pending Kashmir dispute.
He said the Hurriyat Conference makes it clear that the Kashmiri people will not give up their legitimate struggle under any circumstances and the blood of the martyrs will not go waste.
At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered for the highest ranks and eternal rest of all the martyrs of Kashmir, including Shaheed S. Hameed Wani.
Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Nisar Mirza, Syed Ijaz Rahmani, Mian Muzaffar, Zahoor Ahmed, Shabbir Ahmed and others participated in the prayer meeting.
