Religious scholar Agha Syed Baqir Al-Moosvi passes away in Srinagar
Srinagar: Distinguished Muslim scholar, cleric and religious leader Agha Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosvi passed away today after a brief spell of illness in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He was 85.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the most prominent member of the Agha family of Budgam, Agha Baqir, was not keeping well for some time. His health deteriorated and was rushed to the SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he breathed his last in the early hours of Friday.
Funeral prayers will be held soon after Friday prayers and Agha sahab will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Budgam, family sources told the media.
Known for his scholarship, eloquent oratory, and contributions to Islamic literature, Agha Baqir had been serving the community since 1982 after the death of family patriarch Agha Syed Yusuf.
Agha Syed Baqir received his early religious education at Babul Ilm in Budgam. He later pursued advanced theological studies at the HawzaIlmiyya in Najaf, Iraq, one of the most respected centers of Shia scholarship. His academic journey and dedication to Islamic jurisprudence and philosophy have earned him wide recognition.
Meanwhile, APHC senior leader and Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian President Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi in a statement in Srinagar expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of Agha Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosvi and prayed Allah Almighty to rest his soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar also expressed deep sorrow on the passing away of prominent cleric and respected religious scholar Agha Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosvi and terming his demise a great loss to the religious and scholarly circles of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the entire community and prayed for the highest place for the departed soul in Jannah.
