AIMPLB vows to continue struggle till complete repeal of Waqf Amendment Act

Mumbai: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced that it will continue its struggle until the complete repeal of the controversial Waqf Amendment Act.

According to Kashmir Media Service, AIMPLB while addressing a press conference in Mumbai, the Board’s senior leaders, religious scholars from various schools of thought, and non-Muslim intellectuals unanimously rejected all 44 provisions of the controversial law.

Among those who spoke at the press conference were the Board’s General Secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, Vice President Maulana Abdullah Khan Azmi, Vice President and President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Syed Sadatullah Hussaini, Board spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, Maharashtra State Convener Maulana Roohullah Zafar, Maulana Abdus Salam Salafi, and others.

Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas said that although the law directly affects the Muslim community, no consultation was held with them, nor was any attempt made to understand their concerns—clearly exposing the malicious intent of the Modi government. He stated that the amendment was passed against the will of millions of Muslims, and the Board rejects all 44 of its provisions as completely unacceptable.

Board Vice President Syed Sadatullah Hussaini said the law is discriminatory, unjust, and violates the very essence of the Constitution. He added that it was used to polarize the nation, spread misinformation, and fuel hatred.

The speakers stated that the law is not only against Muslims but also a direct attack on the spirit of the Indian Constitution.

Former Member of Parliament Maulana Abdullah Khan Azmi said the government’s claim that the law was introduced for the welfare of poor Muslims is false and misleading.

Non-Muslim intellectual Shyam Gaikwad also addressed the press conference and expressed full support for the Muslim Personal Law Board in its fight against the unjust law.
