Kashmiri youth arrested for ‘pro-freedom’ social media posts in Bandipora
Srinagar: Indian police, acting on the orders of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, have arrested a Kashmiri youth in Bandipora district for allegedly using social media to promote pro-freedom narratives.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the individual has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Wani, a resident of Bangar Mohalla Hajin. He was arrested for allegedly using his social media account ‘Kashmir Timer’ to share content that glorifies pro-freedom activities—a charge frequently invoked by the occupation authorities to justify repressive measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Critics argue that such crackdowns are part of a broader campaign to suppress dissenting voices and stifle the freedom of social media users who challenge the false and fabricated narratives propagated by the Indian state.
