APHC-AJK pays glowing tribute to renowned poet and philosopher Dr Allama Iqbal on his death anniversary

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a special prayer gathering to commemorate the 87th death anniversary of the celebrated poet and philosopher, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the speakers paid rich tributes to Dr Iqbal, stating that he not only awakened Muslims from their deep slumber but also ignited the flame of freedom, selfhood, and awakening in their hearts—a flame that continues to guide them even today. They highlighted his profound impact on Muslim thought and identity.

The speakers said that Allama Iqbal’s thought and philosophy gave the Muslims of the subcontinent a new spiritual and intellectual strength, inspiring them to strive for freedom from the shackles of slavery. Iqbal’s concept of “Khudi” (selfhood) enables individuals to understand their true identity, purpose, and the importance of freedom.

The speakers emphasized the deep connection between the Kashmiri people and Allama Iqbal’s thoughts. They highlighted that Iqbal’s poetry has consistently conveyed a message of patience, resilience, and struggle to the oppressed people of Kashmir. Moreover, Iqbal expressed his spiritual and intellectual solidarity with Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Hurriyat leaders appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organizations to exert pressure on India to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable, legal, and fundamental right to self-determination so that peace and stability may be established in South Asia.

At the conclusion of the event, prayers were offered for the elevation of Allama Iqbal’s soul, for the martyrs of Kashmir, for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir, and for the strength and stability of Pakistan.
