AS Dulat–a velvet glove over an iron fist when it comes to Kashmir & Kashmiris
Srinagar: A.S. Dulat, a former chief of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has launched a new book ‘The Chief Minister and The Spy’, reflecting on the complex relationship between New Delhi and political leadership of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmri Media Service, A. S. Dulat, whom the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir describe as a sugar-coated dagger in the BJP’s quiver, may differ in tone and tenor but remains aligned with its Hindutva agenda.
Former RAW chief speaks diplomatically, but he is a velvet glove over an iron fist when it comes to Kashmir and Kashmiri people. He doesn’t advocate for Kashmiris’ self-determination right as acknowledged by the United Nations. His half-hearted opposition to the abrogation of Article 370 is not out of sympathy for the Kashmiri people, instead he sees it as a vital bridge that connects Kashmir to India through ‘pro-Indian politicians’. Dulat criticizes the way Article 370 was revoked. He thinks force and detention of local politicians should not have been used during its abrogation as according to him these tactics breach trust between Kashmir and India.
Commenting on his book, noted Indian Cardiologist, Dr Upendra Kaul, has criticised former RAW chief over his newly launched book ‘The Chief Minister and The Spy’, saying the content of the book is not entirely factual.
“Listening to and seeing the tremendous media hype regarding Mr A S Dulat’s most recent book I also got it. The Chief Minister and The Spy. My impression after going through: A very mediocre read, over rated, unnecessarily repetitive, not properly edited.
Actually not even entirely factual as also corroborated by Dr Farooq Abdullah himself. Seems to have been written in a tearing hurry but not at all vicious,” Dr Kaul in a post on social media said.
“I guess if you have good friends in the media anything can be sold with a premium. Over all Impression DISSAPOINTING,” Dr Kaul added.
