Pahalgam attack: India torn between admitting security failure or blaming Pakistan

Delayed response by Indian troops raises serious questions

Srinagar: The recent attack on non-locals in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), has left India in a state of dilemma whether to admit a massive security lapse or resort to its usual tactic of accusing Pakistan.

According to Kashmir Media Service, following the illegal abrogation of Article 370, India has been falsely portraying a return to normalcy in the occupied territory and misleading the international community through fabricated narratives despite of the fact that over one million Indian troops are deployed in the territory to silence the voices of the Kashmiri people.

While India frequently alleges infiltration from across the Line of Control (LoC), the key question remains: how could the so-called infiltrators traverse the heavily militarized territory and reach Pahalgam, a long distance from the LoC, without detection?

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers carried out their operation for nearly 20 minutes, selectively identifying individuals before opening fire. The prolonged duration of the attack and the absence of an immediate response from Indian forces have triggered serious concerns and suspicions.

Once again, Indian media, following directives from intelligence agencies, has launched a biased and misleading campaign, attempting to sway international opinion. Notably, a Kashmiri Muslim also lost his life in the attack, but the Indian media — loyal to the Modi regime — has chosen to completely ignore this fact.

Within minutes of the incident, social media accounts linked to India’s intelligence agency RAW — such as “Baba Banaras” — began pointing fingers at Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and there is no credible evidence linking Pakistan to the incident.

India, which continues to perpetrate large-scale terrorism against innocent Kashmiris and Sikhs, shamelessly accuses Pakistan of terrorism while portraying itself as a victim. In reality, Pakistan possesses concrete evidence of India’s involvement in terrorist activities on its soil, including the capture of Kulbhushan Jadhav in Balochistan several years ago — a clear indication of Indian-sponsored terrorism. The nexus between the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and India is no longer a secret.

Pakistan has always strongly condemned terrorism in all forms. The Foreign Office of Pakistan consistently issues formal responses to such incidents. In contrast, India’s Foreign Office remains conspicuously silent regarding terrorist activities occurring within Pakistan — a calculated and telling silence.

Indian media, acting under agency influence, has created a near war-like hysteria, attempting to provoke Prime Minister Narendra Modi into taking aggressive actions against Pakistan. However, both the Indian government and its media must remember that Pakistan is fully committed to defending every inch of its territory. Any adventurism against Pakistan will have grave consequences and will prove extremely costly for India.

India continues to occupy a large portion of Jammu and Kashmir through sheer force. The people of the territory have been resisting this illegal occupation for the past 77 years. While India may enforce a temporary silence at gunpoint, it cannot extinguish the Kashmiri people’s deep desire for freedom.

In recent elections, Kashmiris vehemently rejected the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A and sent a clear message by boycotting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its divisive agenda. India must understand that suppressing Kashmiri aspirations through military might is futile. Instead, it must grant the people of Jammu and Kashmir their UN-mandated, inalienable right to self-determination. KMS-10U
