Indian tourists feel safe, welcomed in Srinagar amid Hindutva-fueled hate campaigns
Srinagar: Amid rising communal tensions fueled by Hindutva leaders and attacks on Kashmiris in India, visiting Indian tourists in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, have praised the overwhelming warmth and hospitality extended to them by the local population.
According to Kashmir Media Service, many said they felt not only safe but deeply welcomed during their stay in the Kashmir Valley. The iconic Dal Lake remains a hub of lively activity, with tourists soaking in the breathtaking beauty of Kashmir and the unmatched hospitality of its people.
“I don’t feel good about leaving today. I’ve had a great time here. The hoteliers have supported us throughout our stay. We felt no fear, and locals have been welcoming. Tourists must visit — there is no fear as such,” said Vikram Bhai Vyas, a tourist from Gujarat’s Vadodara.
Another tourist, Bakul Sharma, who came to Srinagar on April 21, said, “We feel completely safe. There are no issues. There is no fear. People planning a visit should come.”
Visitors said the Kashmiri spirit of warmth, despite harassment and attacks faced by Kashmiris in India, stands as a powerful testament to the Valley’s tradition of hospitality and communal harmony.
