Muzaffarabad: Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali has urged the Secretary-General of the United Nations
United Nations, António Guterres, to appoint a commission on Pehalgam incident and human rights crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Uzair Ahmed Ghazali in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, said the United Nations must break its silence and take immediate action to address the injustices by the Modi government in the occupied territory.

“To,
His Excellency António Guterres
Secretary-General of the United Nations
United Nations Headquarters
New York, NY 10017, USA

Subject: “Urgent Action Required to appoint a commission on Pehalgam incident and human rights crisis in Jammu and Kashmir”

Dear Sir,

The United Nations Security Council plays a vital role in maintaining international peace and security, and its efforts to address global challenges are truly commendable.

I am writing to bring to your attention the grave human rights situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, where Indian forces are committing atrocities against unarmed civilians. The United Nations must break its silence and take immediate action to address these injustices.

The recent brutalities, including the destruction of homes and torture of residents, are unacceptable. Specifically, I would like to highlight the following incidents and issues:

– Indian forces have destroyed 26 houses of Kashmiri citizens with explosions in the last five days.
– The Indian army has raided hundreds of houses in Srinagar and the Kashmir Valley, torturing residents.
– Over 1,700 citizens have been arrested in the crackdown, and many are facing demolition of houses, seizure of properties, and land grabbing.

In light of these atrocities, I urge the United Nations to:

1. Take notice of Indian brutality against unarmed civilians in Jammu and Kashmir and break its silence on the injustices being committed.

2. Appoint an independent commission to investigate human rights abuses in Kashmir, including the Pahalgam incident.

3. Pressure the Indian government to repeal black laws, such as AFSPA, POTA, TADA, UAPA, and PSA, implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.

4.The United Nations should ban land grabbing, property confiscation and demolition by Indian agencies NIA, CIK and SIU in occupied Kashmir.

5. Play a role in the release of Kashmiri women, journalists, human rights activists, freedom-loving leaders, and citizens imprisoned in Indian jails.

6. Declare the cruel actions of the Indian Lok Sabha on August 5, 2019, and the biased decision of the Indian Supreme Court on December 11, 2023, null and void.

7. Cancel the domiciles issued to Indian citizens in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir, as they are an insult to the institution.

8. Organize a free and fair referendum process across the state for a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.

9. Stop the mass arrests of citizens in occupied Kashmir, demolition of houses, seizure of properties, and land grabbing.

10. Prevent the Indian government from dispossessing Muslims in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and turning it into a Hindu state.

The international community must act to prevent further suffering in Kashmir. I hope the United Nations will take immediate action to address these critical issues.”

Sincerely,

Uzair Ahmed Ghazali
Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat
Jammu and Kashmir
