Massive protest held in Maharashtra against Waqf Act
New Delhi: Thousands of people gathered in Parbhani, Maharashtra, in protest against the controversial Waqf Act.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was organised at Eidgah maidan by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
The well-organized protest was joined by several prominent faces including Asaduddin Owaisi, Board President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani general Secretary Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, SDPI vice president Muhammad Shafi, Sadatullah Hussaini and others joined the peaceful program.
The guests criticised the government for taking a step that is ‘unconstitutional’ and demanded the withdrawal of the bill.
Asaduddin Owaisi during his address to the massive crowd said, “I ask Modi to withdraw the bill and I had said in the parliament that it is a black law and only Modi will benefit from this. This law snatches our property.”
Owaisi then asserted that waqf solely belongs to Allah and questioned the BJP government for the intentions behind the bill. Accusing the BJP of planning to snatch mosques and graveyards and other waqf properties, he said that the claims of Waqf Bill benefiting the poor Muslims are all lies.
