India intensifies atrocities in IIOJK after Pahalgam incident: AJK President Barrister Sultan

Islamabad: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has said that India is using the Pahalgam false flag operation as a pretext to intensify its campaign of brutalities against the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), in an attempt to divert global attention from its ongoing human rights violations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Barrister Sultan in an exclusive interview with international news agency Reuters in Islamabad stated that in the wake of the Pahalgam incident, India has escalated its oppression against unarmed civilians in occupied Kashmir. He pointed out that within minutes of the attack, India blamed Pakistan without presenting any evidence, further exposing New Delhi’s habitual use of false flag operations for political gains.

He added that India has not only used the Pahalgam event to justify increased military aggression in Kashmir but also took unilateral steps such as violating the Indus Waters Treaty by releasing water into the Jhelum River, and revoking medical visas for Pakistanis undergoing treatment in Indian hospitals—moves that reflect the extremist Hindutva mindset of the ruling regime.

Barrister Sultan reminded that the current wave of repression is a continuation of the crackdown initiated on August 5, 2019, when India unilaterally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. That decision marked the beginning of one of the darkest chapters in the region’s history, characterized by severe restrictions, arbitrary detentions, media blackouts, and grave human rights abuses.

He also highlighted India’s involvement in terrorist activities in Canada, Pakistan, and other countries, which has exposed it as a state sponsor of terrorism on the international stage.

Calling for international intervention, Barrister Sultan urged countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar to play a constructive role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India and in bringing peace to the region. KMS-13U
