Indian troops martyr 9 Kashmiris in April in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian troops, continuing their brutal state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir martyred nine Kashmiris during the last month of April.

According to data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, three of the victims were killed in fake encounters and custody. The killings by the occupation troops rendered one woman widowed and five children orphaned.

During the month, Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Operation Group and notorious agencies such as Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency, arrested at least 2480 civilians, mostly political activists, youth, traders and students. Several detainees were booked under black laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA), designed to silence dissent and prolong illegal detentions.

During the month unknown attackers killed 25 outsiders and a local Kashmiri and injured 15 persons at the tourist spot in Baisaran near Pahalgam area of Islamabad district. Indian forces destroyed and damaged thirty-six residential houses in the territory.

These killings, arrests and houses destruction occurred during 322 cordon-and-search operations and house raids carried out by conducted by Indian forces’ personnel across the territory.

Additionally, intensifying its colonial style suppression, the highly communal and corrupted administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, under the direct control of Indian Home Minister, seized 31 properties, including residential houses, shops and agricultural lands. These illegal confiscations are part of BJP-led Indian government’s strategy to economically strangle Kashmiris and suppress their political stand of plebiscite demand and sentiment aspirations.
