Islamabad: India committed an aggression on Pakistan by launching air strikes a little after 1am on Wednesday with what it termed “Operation Sindoor”, posing a serious threat to peace and security in South Asia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) while confirming the strikes, said that India had carried out the attacks from within its airspace. The military spokesperson provided an updated damage assessment of the scenario at around 4am, reporting the death of eight civilians.
Indian attacks claimed 26 civilian lives and injured 46 others.
The Pakistani military has brought down five Indian jets, a drone and destroyed brigade headquarters in retaliation for late-night strikes launched by India at six sites, including in Punjab’s Sialkot and Bahawalpur, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
ISPR Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that all Pakistan Air Force jets are safe after engaging Indian jets.
Among the destroyed Indian Air Force (IAF) jets are three French-made Rafales, one Su30MKI and one MIG-29 Fulcrum, confirmed a military spokesperson to a foreign media outlet.
The Pakistan armed forces also destroyed an enemy post in the Dhundial sector of the Line of Control (LoC) and shot down a drone. An intense exchange of fire is ongoing at the LoC with Pakistan Army engaging Indian Army positions.
Responding to India’s strikes, analysts said New Delhi has remained the actual spoiler of peace in the South Asian region since 1947 but threats to the regional peace have intensified manifold since Modi came to power in India.
Pakistan has time & again informed the world about India’s destabilizing role in South Asia. It is time for world to check India’s hegemonic designs to guarantee peace in the region.
