Over 500 madrasas listed for possible closure in UP

Bahraich: In the continued crackdown Muslim religious properties after the approval of Amendment Act in India, Uttar Pradesh government have marked over 500 madrassas in Bahraich district alone for closure.

According to Kashmir Media Service, nine madrassas have already been closed in the district.

The sealing is part of a larger crackdown targeting what the authorities term “illegal” madrasas. Among the 500 madrassas listed to be closed include 107 madrasas in Nanpara tehsil, 106 in Bahraich, 105 in Kaiserganj, and 71 in Payagpur.
