People urged to visit Srinagar’s martyrs graveyard at Eidgah tomorrow

Srinagar: People will observe the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, tomorrow.

According to Kashmir Media Service, seminars and Fateh Khawani would be organised and speakers would condemn the genocide of the Kashmiris by the Indian forces in the territory. People have been asked to visit the martyrs’ graveyard at Eidgah in Srinagar to offer fateha for all the Kashmiri martyrs.

Unidentified gunmen had shot dead Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq at his residence in Srinagar on 21st May in 1990. On the same day, seventy mourners were killed when Indian troops opened indiscriminate fire on his funeral procession in Hawal area of Srinagar. Twelve years later on May 21 in 2002, unknown attackers had assassinated Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone when he was returning after addressing a gathering at the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Front spokesman Muhammad Hasib Wani in a statement in Srinagar also called for a visit to the martyrs graveyard in Srinagar to pay tributes to Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal on their martyrdom anniversary, tomorrow.

APHC-AJK will orgainise a seminar at Kashmir House Islamabad, tomorrow, to pay homage to all Kashmiri martyrs including Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and victims of Hawal massacre.
