Indian FM’s war threat aimed at diverting global attention from Kashmir: Ali Raza Syed
Brussels: Chairman of the Kashmir Council-EU, Ali Raza Syed, has condemned the recent threats made by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar against Pakistan, calling them a deliberate attempt to divert international attention from the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels criticized Jaishankar’s remarks in a recent interview where the Indian minister accused Pakistan of terrorism and hinted at the possibility of future military action. Syed said these threats represent a blatant violation of international law and aim to shift focus from India’s continued human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“The real issue is not cross-border terrorism, as India claims, but its brutal suppression of the Kashmiri people and the denial of their right to self-determination,” he said. “India continues to recycle baseless accusations against Pakistan while ignoring its own state-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir.”
Ali Raza Syed stressed that the Kashmir dispute is not a bilateral or regional matter, but an internationally recognized issue backed by multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions. “India had promised the right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir, a promise it has failed to fulfill to this day,” he added.
Ali Raza Syed further stated that India is spreading misinformation about the ground situation in Kashmir. “If the European Union and other international bodies truly want to know the reality, they should send independent teams to occupied Kashmir,” he said. “Human rights organizations and global media must be granted unconditional access to the region.”
He reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s commitment to their just struggle and expressed confidence that their peaceful movement would ultimately succeed.
