Israel’s aggression against Iran sparks outrage in IIOJK

Srinagar: Israel’s recent military aggression against Iran has triggered widespread condemnation from political and religious leaders across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who have termed the attack as unjustified, provocative, and a serious threat to global peace.

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led the chorus of criticism, denouncing Israel’s actions and describing it as a “rogue state and a huge threat to world peace”. He expressed outrage over the killing of Iranian civilians, including women and children, in the strikes.

“Besides perpetuating genocide on hapless Palestinians and getting away with it, Israel is now putting the whole Middle East in peril”. He called upon the international community, especially the United Nations, to intervene and restrain Israel from launching attacks on sovereign nations.

IIOJK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the Israeli strike, calling it “totally unjustified” and warning of serious global repercussions. “Israel launched the attack calling it ‘pre-emptive,’ but this is nothing short of waging war. If Russia’s aggression on Ukraine is condemned, why the silence on Israel?” he told reporters in Srinagar. He also urged the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students in Iran, expressing concern over their security amid escalating tensions.

Senior National Conference and Indian parliament member from Srinagar Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, denounced Israel’s repeated attacks on countries in the Middle East, labelling it a “colonial thug” on the global stage. “Israel has now bombed Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, and still plays the victim. This rogue Zionist regime isn’t defending itself—it’s behaving like a colonial thug,” Ruhullah said in a series of strongly worded posts on X.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti described the Israeli aggression as a “brazen act”, sharply criticizing the Western world for its silence, which she described as a form of complicity. “Israel has gone rogue, and the silence of the global community—especially Western powers led by the United States—is both alarming and telling,” Mufti said on X.

She also condemned the inaction of Muslim-majority nations, describing it as a “betrayal” of the values they profess to uphold.
