Indian police attach property of AJK based Kashmiri Hurriyat leader in Kupwara
Srinagar: In yet another instance of state repression, the New Delhi-imposed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime, led by the Lieutenant Governor, has seized the property of AJK based Kashmiri Hurriyat leader in Kupwara district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Indian police attached the ancestral agricultural land of Abdul Hamid Lone, a resident of Mawar Bala Qalamabad, Kupwara. The seized land comprises 3 kanals and 19 marlas.
The property was confiscated under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a black law frequently used by Indian authorities to target and harass Kashmiri civilians.
It is worth mentioning that since the illegal abrogation of IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019, the BJP-led Indian government has intensified its campaign to dispossess Kashmiris of their properties, homes, and lands as part of a broader strategy to suppress the genuine demand for a plebiscite, inflict economic hardships, and enforce demographic change in the occupied territory.
