Speakers at Birmingham conference stress renewed global attention on Kashmir

Birmingham: Speakers at an All-Parties Conference held in Birmingham observed that India’s recent political decline has renewed global attention on the Kashmir dispute and stressed the urgent need to channel this momentum into a robust public campaign to reaffirm that Kashmiris are not alone.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference was organized by the International Kashmir Coordination Committee and presided over by Raja Fahim Kayani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and All Parties UK. The session was moderated by Inam-ul-Haq Khawaja, General Secretary of International Kashmir Coordination Committee.

A large number of leaders from political, religious, women’s, student, and community organizations attended the conference, which aimed to highlight the Kashmir issue globally and devise strategies to show solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Participants strongly condemned the Indian government’s illegal actions of August 5, 2019, and the ongoing grave human rights abuses in IIOJK. They emphasized the importance of exposing India’s crimes at international forums.

A unanimous resolution was passed to organize a massive “Kashmir March” in London on August 5, 2025, marking six years since the illegal abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A. The march will start from 10 Downing Street and culminate at the Indian High Commission.

To ensure mass mobilization, it was decided that a comprehensive campaign will be launched through mosques, community centers, universities, and digital platforms in the run-up to the march.
