Israel’s aggression aims to weaken Iran and divert global attention from Gaza: Speakers

Islamabad: Speakers at a seminar strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran, stating that the aggression is a calculated move aimed at weakening Iran and diverting global attention from the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar titled “Israeli Aggression Against Iran and the Dynamics of the Middle East” was organized by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) in Islamabad. The speakers emphasized the need for Pakistan to adopt a cautious and well-calibrated diplomatic approach, considering its historical ties and the evolving regional alignments.

They noted that the Israeli strikes against Iran were not abrupt actions, but rather part of a long-term strategic design rooted in deep geopolitical dynamics. Backed by U.S. support, Israel aims to erode Iran’s regional influence and strategic significance. Iran, in response, continues to assert its strategic autonomy and ideological stance despite mounting threats.

The rising tensions between Iran and Israel, the speakers warned, are pushing the region toward greater instability. Moreover, these escalations serve to deliberately divert international attention from the ongoing atrocities and human rights violations in Gaza.

The speakers further underscored that Pakistan, due to its unique historical position and regional sensitivities, must respond with strategic foresight and diplomatic prudence. They also discussed the historical context of Iran-Israel relations and the importance of nuanced, balanced diplomacy in the face of emerging regional complexities.

With reference to India’s deepening ties with Israel, the speakers stressed that any future regional conflict must be navigated by Pakistan with heightened diplomatic sensitivity. Pakistan, they reiterated, maintains a principled stance in supporting Iran against Israeli aggression. They called for the safeguarding of national interests through long-term planning and visionary diplomacy.

Prominent figures addressing the seminar included IPS Chairman Khalid Rahman, Vice Chairman and former ambassador Abrar Hussain, former ambassadors Nasrullah Khan, Riffat Masood, Naila Chohan, and Brigadier (R) Tughral Yamin.
