India forcibly pushing Muslim citizens across border into Bangladesh: The Guardian

London: A report published by the renowned British daily The Guardian has revealed that the Modi-led Indian government is forcibly deporting Muslim citizens and suspected Bangladeshi migrants across the border into Bangladesh, raising serious concerns over violations of national and international laws.

According to Kashmir Media Service, The Guardian reported that in the Indian state of Assam, some individuals including Indian citizens are being subjected to violence by Indian border forces and coerced into crossing into Bangladesh. The report warns that such actions could amount to serious breaches of both domestic and international legal frameworks.

The forced deportations have reportedly intensified in Assam, where a long-running crackdown on undocumented migrants has disproportionately targeted Muslims. Experts believe that the campaign is politically and strategically motivated, driven by recent security incidents and the anti-Muslim policies of the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to the report, several detained individuals have either gone missing while in Indian custody or have been forcibly pushed into Bangladesh, where they remain stranded. Indian authorities are now labeling them as foreign nationals.

International rights organizations and Bangladeshi authorities have condemned India’s actions, calling them violations of human rights and international law. Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and border security officials have formally demanded that India halt these forced expulsions and follow proper legal procedures.
