Indian troops arrest Kashmiri youth in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian troops arrested a Kashmiri youth in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth, a resident of Seer Hamdan and working as a carpenter, was detained in the Langanbal area. Indian Police claimed he had a prior FIR registered against him in 2005.

This marks the first instance in the Kashmir Valley where a person has been arrested using the newly installed Facial Recognition System (FRS).

It is pertinent to mention that the Modi-led occupation regime recently deployed FRS technology along the Pahalgam route of the Amarnath Yatra, an act condemned by rights groups as a blatant violation of privacy and civil liberties of the local population.
Observers have raised serious concerns, warning that the technology is being used as a tool for mass surveillance, harassment, and intimidation, further intensifying the climate of fear and repression in the occupied territory.
