Pahalgam attack Indian intelligence’s major failure: AS Dulat
New Delhi:Former chief of India’s intelligence agency RAW, A.S. Dulat, has termed the Pahalgam attack a complete failure of India’s intelligence and security apparatus, admitting that New Delhi lacks credible evidence regarding the incident.
According to Kashmir Media Service, A.S. Dulat acknowledged that the Pahalgam incident was a serious intelligence lapse and stated, “What happened in Pahalgam was truly unfortunate and reflects a total failure on the part of Indian intelligence.” He further admitted that India often makes allegations without evidence, particularly in incidents where Pakistan is blamed without substantiation.
Dulat confessed that it has become routine for Indian authorities to immediately accuse Pakistan of various incidents inside India, regardless of whether any proof exists. He also questioned the Modi-led government’s strategy of shaping public opinion through a Pakistan-centric narrative.
Dulat pointed out that Pakistan had shot down six Indian aircrafts “a fact that remains unacknowledged in India’s official narrative,” he added.
On the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, the former RAW chief stressed that Pakistan must be taken seriously as a responsible stakeholder in any effort to improve the situation in the region.
Commenting on the recent tensions between Iran and Israel, Dulat said Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshall Syed Asim Munir, could play a constructive and effective role in mediation efforts, and praised Pakistan’s diplomatic steps aimed at promoting regional stability.
