Islamabad: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said the reports about Shabir Shah’s worsening health and need for urgent surgery have caused anxiety among the Kashmiri people. He said the demand for presence of family members during Shabir Shah’s surgery is the most basic humanitarian right and should be accepted without any hesitation by the Indian authorities.

He prayed for the early recovery of the ailing Hurriyat leader and urged international human rights organizations to take serious notice of the plight of illegally detained Kashmiri leaders.

Rehmani also called upon the Indian government to provide adequate medical facilities to all Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in Tihar and other jails across India for years.
