Two Indian tourists jailed in Singapore for robbing and assaulting women

Singapore: Two Indian men visiting Singapore on holiday have been sentenced to over five years in prison and caning for robbing and assaulting sex workers.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Arokkiyasami Daison, 23, and Rajendran Mayilarasan, 27, were exploring an area in Singapore known as Little India when they were approached by a man offering the services of two women, according to The Straits Times. Daison reportedly hatched a plan to rob the women and enlisted his accomplice Mayilarasan.
The duo first met one of the women in a hotel room in Jalan Besar, where they tied her hands and legs, slapped her, and stole jewellery, a bank card, $2,000 in cash, and her passport. Later that night, they attacked a second woman, seizing two mobile phones, her passport, and $800 in cash.
The crimes came to light after the second victim shared what happened with her with a man, prompting police involvement.
The men pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery, seeking leniency during mitigation. The court sentenced each to five years and one month in prison and 12 strokes of the cane.
