Mirwaiz highlights life, legacy of Amīr-e-Kabīr (RA) in Srinagar

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq threw light on the life and legacy of Amīr-e-Kabīr Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a seminar at Darul Uloom Qasmia, Lal Bazaar, Srinagar, highlighted the enduring influence of the saint-scholar on Islam, culture, and civilization in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Shah-e-Hamadan not only brought Islam’s message to Kashmir with wisdom and compassion but also transformed its moral and social life through education, reform, and promotion of crafts and livelihoods. “He was a spiritual guide and social reformer whose teachings remain timeless,” he remarked.

Referring to Shah-e-Hamadan’s masterpiece Dhakirat-al-Muluk, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said he was honoured that his doctoral research was devoted to this text, calling it “a guide not just for rulers but for all entrusted with responsibility.” The book, he noted, outlines enduring principles of justice, compassion, and good governance from the Qur’an and Sunnah “a moral compass for public life even today.”

He said that the Shah-e-Hamadan’s Sufi vision united governance with inner reform, teaching that “no rule stands without justice, and no justice without purity of heart.” He further noted the saint’s inclusive outlook, stressing that Dhakirat-ul-Muluk upholds the dignity and rights of non-Muslims and ensures their freedom of belief and worship ,reflecting Islam’s true spirit of mercy and fairness.

Concluding, Mirwaiz said the Shah-e-Hamadan’s message — rooted in faith, knowledge, ethics, and divine love (ishq-e-ilahi) continues to offer a path toward a just and compassionate society.
