Srinagar: October 27, 1947, marks the beginning of the long-standing conflict over Jammu and Kashmir and the immense suffering endured by its people under Indian occupation, said a fresh article released on the eve of the day.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the article noted that the date remains forever etched in the collective memory of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “It was on this ominous day that Indian forces descended upon Srinagar — a move devoid of any legal justification. This marked the start of a prolonged and turbulent period in the region, one that has spanned more than seven decades. In the years that followed, the Kashmiri people have borne the brunt of this military occupation,” the article stated.
The piece added that the Indian government has consistently used religious aggression to suppress the voices of the Kashmiri people. The 2019 curfew and ban on gatherings were imposed to crush protests against the revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
“This aggression not only exacted a heavy toll in human suffering but also led to the desecration of historic Muslim sites — a gross violation of cultural and religious rights,” the article observed.
The article said every aspect of life for Muslims in the occupied territory is under assault by the RSS-backed Modi regime, which is bent on erasing every symbol of Muslim identity in the region. It pointed out that the Modi regime’s illegal actions of August 05, 2019, opened a more brutal chapter in Kashmir’s tortured history. India is enforcing a process of political, constitutional, cultural disempowerment in IIOJK, taking a series of administrative, demographic, and electoral measures to further marginalize the Kashmiri people.
The article said every Indian action is aimed at eroding the culture, language, and religious identity of Muslims in IIOJK, adding that New Delhi’s actions mirror Israeli settler policies in occupied Palestine. They said extrajudicial killings, arrests, and torture by Indian army, police, and paramilitary personnel continue unabated in the occupied territory. The piece deplored that Narendra Modi seeks to impose the Hindutva ideology in IIOJK, but his government’s brutal policies are only strengthening the resolve of Kashmiri Muslims to resist India’s illegal occupation of their homeland. It maintained that all of the Modi regime’s tactics and schemes are destined to fail in the occupied territory.
