Convicting of freedom-lovers, data collecting of mosques highly dangerous in IIOJK: Rehmani
Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter senior leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has said that the Hindutva establishment of occupied Kashmir is pronouncing judgements against Kashmiri political leaders in prisons and campaigning against mosques and their management is a crime against humanity and violation of International humanitarian law.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad called upon the international community to take cognizance of the grave situation created by the RSS-backed Bharatiya Janata Party rule, which has poisoned the communal and political atmosphere of the territory.
He strongly condemned the conviction delivered by the Delhi NIA court on Dukhtaran-e-Millat incarcerated Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen on concocted allegations of sedition, terrorism , hate speeches and such other accusations under infamous Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
He said that ailing Aasiya Andrabi had been languishing in the prison for a long time and she and other leaders of her party were never provided due legal facilities to defence, while the prosecuting authorities were free to fabricate biased allegations against them.
He appealed to the international humanitarian organisations to raise their voice against India’s baseless charges and maligning tirade and sentencing of Kashmiri leaders to unjust and harsh sentences.
He said the UN should emphasise India upon giving basic human rights, political space, the right to self-determination to the people to finally resolve the long-drawn Kashmir dispute in line with the UNSC resolutions.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also expressed concern over the systematic profiling of the religious caretakers of mosques, terming it a dangerously unprecedented intrusion into their existence and the religious and social rights of prayer leaders, that the same investigation couldn’t be allowed in the management of Hindu temples in India.
The move by the Hindutva establishment of Delhi and Srinagar has initiated a large-scale data collection exercise targeting mosques, collecting detailed information about imams, muezzins, khateebs and mosque-management committee members and staff as required under a 4 page questionnaire, including personal and financial details, personal identity and credentials, digital footage prints: mobile telephone numbers, IMEI Numbers, WhatsApp Numbers, social media accounts, etc.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani termed India’s ruling behaviour in occupied Jammu and Kashmir obnoxious and highly detrimental to social and communal peace aimed at destroying its social fabric and incapacitating the present generation of the Kashmiris.
He warned that sooner than later the people would rise in revolt against the Hindutva Indian rule and their tyranny in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They would not only be the Kashmiri Muslims, but other communities from Ladakh to Kathua will stand with one voice against the India’s repressive neo imperialism on Jammu and Kashmir, he said, adding it’s better for India to read writings on wall and withdraw all draconian laws in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
