Ganderbal fake encounter killing: Iltija Mufti demands return of body, transparent probe
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has demanded the immediate handover of the body of Kashmiri youth, Rashid Ahmad Mughal, who was killed in a fake encounter by Indian troops in Ganderbal district, along with a transparent investigation into the incident.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rashid Mughal was killed in a staged encounter during a recent cordon and search operation in Arhama area of Ganderbal.
Iltija Mufti, accompanied by other party leaders, visited the bereaved family in the Chuntwaliwar area and expressed solidarity with them. Speaking to media persons, she asserted that Rashid Mughal was innocent and demanded that his body be returned to the family within a week, warning that failure to do so would lead to public protests.
She called for a thorough and transparent probe, emphasizing that its findings be made public and those found guilty should face action. Stressing the gravity of the incident, justice must be delivered to the family of the victim.
Iltija Mufti also said that Rashid Mughal was a worker of her party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
